About Me...
My name is Phoebe Evens (she/her)
I offer online person-centred counselling from Southsea, Hampshire. I am also a tattoo artist and ice cream lady. So, you could say I am a creative with a sweet tooth.

I came to work in counselling after benefitting from years of personal therapy and I see counselling as one of the most rewarding experiences of my life so far, as a client and as a practitioner.

I work with affordability, accessibility and inclusion at the forefront of my practice. I am committed to growing my professional skills and I regularly attend training to improve and broaden my outlook and knowledge. I am subscribed to the Therapy and Social Change Network, an initiative that pushes back on discrimination and prejudice and celebrates difference. I also regularly attend training and read about decolonising counselling, which is something I am passionate about.

In the interests of accessibility and inclusion I try to offer appointments at varying times of day and weekend slots.

I have spent years campaigning for the rights of women, the transgender community and those fleeing global conflict - I regularly volunteer with people seeking asylum in our beautiful sanctuary city. I warmly welcome anyone interested in counselling, from any walk of life.

As a member of an ethical body, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I am held to a high ethical standard. Working ethically is important to me, I see ethics as the underpinning of a safe, moral world.

My Counselling
I work from a person-centred counselling perspective. This a non-directive form of counselling, meaning that the sessions focus on what you are feeling and experiencing in the present. Person-centred counselling is underpinned by the belief that everyone has the ability to change and grow. We will centre your feelings and what you bring to counselling sessions, where you can find your own solutions and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.

This means that I don’t hold an agenda for our work together. I believe that your goals and what you aim to gain from therapy are unique to you, and are equally as important to me.

I have experience in – personally, with clients or as extra training:

-
LGBTQPIA+ experiences
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Burn out
-
Intrusive thoughts
-
Gender dysphoria
-

My sessions cost £40 per counselling hour (50 minutes). I accept bank transfer prior to each appointment. I know that this is a financial commitment and for this reason we can discuss fortnightly instead of weekly sessions. We can also look into working together short term, instead of open ended, for a fixed period of time so that you can plan financially around this.

In favour of transparency, the hourly rate that I charge helps to cover the cost of regular clinical supervision (enhancing and holding my practice to ethical standards), training and professional development costs, professional indemnity insurance, professional membership (BACP), ICO registration.

I have a few weekly slots available for concessionary rates. Concessions are considered for post partum mothers and disabled individuals, enquire with me and we can work something out.

I am diversifying my practice, meaning that I would like to offer one off 1.5 hour sessions to dig deep into individual issues, and I can offer shorter sessions for those who dread the thought of sitting for 50 minutes. Get in touch if these options sound better for you!
